Rome: Travel report

Hi everyone! A month after our 5-day trip to Rome I finally found time to select a few snapshots and write a brief travel report for you guys. As it was the first time there for my boyfriend, we did the usual sight-seeing program and the most important thing for me was to find a nice hotel, which is centrally located. After a quick research on the internet i wrote down 3 favorites and went to the travel agency.

It's a 4-star hotel and the perfect choice for tourists, because of it's location. (10-minute walk to the Vatican City, a few steps to Via Cola di Rienzo-a nice shopping street where you'll find brands as Tiffany & Co, Zara Home, Nike and Intimissimi, just to mention a few..)
Conclusion: The hotel was nice, the hotel staff very kind, breakfast very yummie, but I was annoyed by the fact, that we had to change the room twice, because both weren't cleaned good enough and cleanness is in my opinion the main thing! In the end we got an impeccable room and were very happy after going back and forth for 1,5 hours.

Where to eat: Beside ordering room service (the menu consists of pizza, pasta, salad, toast,..)
we accidently discovered "Grotta Azzurra", a cute restaurant with delicious italian food and went there three times in a row..apart from that we just grabbed gelato, (fruit) salad or a panino while walking through the city.

-Ristorante e Pizzeria "Grotta Azzurra", Via Cicerone 62/A
-Caffè Portofino, Piazza Cola di Rienzo 116
-Good Bakery Delights, Via Marcantonio Colonna 22
-Ristorante Cotto, Via Torino, 124

What to see:
Vatican City (incl. Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica)
Castel Sant'Angelo
Colosseo
Foro Romano
Piazza Navona
Pantheon
Fontana di Trevi
Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore
Spanish Steps
Via del Corso
Villa Borghese
Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II

What to do:
-Hop on Hop off Bus Tour (by day and especially by night!)
-Rent a golf cart at Villa Borghese (35€/1 hour)
-Climb the dome of the St. Peter's Basilica (you'll get a marvellous view over the city) as well as from the roof of Castel Sant'Angelo
-Throw coins at Fontana di Trevi (using the right hand over the left shoulder)
-Go shopping along Via del Corso
-Eat a lot of Pizza, Pasta and Gelato!

What else:
-Make sure to buy a city pass before your trip (we picked the Rome City Pass)
-When visiting the Vatican City, don't forget to cover your shoulders and knees
-Always take a bottle of water with you, especially during the summer months
-Dress comfortable, because you'll walk around a lot!
-Take a lot of pictures & get inspired by the history, incredible architecture and the people
